Benzotrifluoride
Benzotrifluoride (CAS#:98-08-8) is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C7H5F3. It is mainly used as raw material for intermediates such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals and dyes, and also can be used for the manufacture of vulcanizing agents, pesticides, solvents and insulating oils.
Benzotrifluoride is stable to water and alkali solution; However, it can be hydrolyzed to benzoic acid under the influence of excessive concentrated hydrobromic acid at 150 ℃. Concentrated nitric acid can nitrate it to m-nitrotrifluoro toluene.
In terms of solubility, Benzotrifluoride is insoluble in water, but soluble in ether, ethanol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride and benzene.
Trifluorotoluene is used in organic synthesis and intermediate of dyes and drugs, as vulcanizing agent and accelerator, and in the manufacture of insulating oil. It can be used to determine the calorific value of fuel, prepare powder fire extinguishing agent, and also be used as an additive for photodegradable plastics.
In a word, Benzotrifluoride is very important for the pesticide and pharmaceutical industries.
